Behind the Design: The Goldfinch Project

Interior Design

The Goldfinch Project has been wrapped up for a few months now, however we are just getting around to sharing all of the details! This has been a 3 part project, where our client's kept bringing us back for more and more, which we happily accept! We started off by fully furnishing their living room, followed by their dining room and most recently we transformed their unused basement nook into a home office!

Challenges

Our client's had been moved into their home for almost a year without purchasing much more than a sofa. Many of our client's often tell us that they are afraid to make any purchases in fear of making a big design mistake. Que their call to us. This was no exception for our wonderful clients at The Goldfinch Project.

In their living room they had purchased a gorgeous sofa, which ended up working seamlessly into our design plan. They were looking for a finished and layered look with a rustic yet glam style. Our client's love wood tones, but also wanted to incorporate soft colors. They have a large family and needed their space to function for hanging out as well as hosting large dinner parties.

Our clients have been working fully remote and really wanted a private space to work that could also accommodate space for their older daughter's to do homework as well.

The primary goal was to bring life to their home with furnishings and textiles as well as getting creative with layout to maximize function!

The Design Plan

For the living room we used our client's current sofa to ground the space in a soft neutral to layer color onto. We worked with a soft color palette of blues and blush pink. Rustic wood tones used in the coffee table and credenza gave our client's that rustic nod they were hoping for. We brought in lots of textures such as shells, florals, faux fur and velvet. Deep navy velvet curtains made the room immediately feel luxe yet sophisticated.

There was an unused space off of their kitchen that was a perfect opportunity for a large dining space. It is open to the kitchen and living room making entertaining a breeze! Our client's love to host dinner parties and we wanted to give them a functional yet gorgeous space to do so. This large wooden dining table was the perfect opportunity for a double chandelier moment. The texture on the beads paired with the brass are a showstopper. Using high back hostess chairs give the room a grand and traditional feel.

We got creative in our client's basement nook and took advantage of every square inch. Using a wall to wall custom desk system allowed a space for our client's children to do homework. This still left ample room for a full home office for our clients to work from home on the daily. We continued the rustic glam style and added a wow moment by having a black and white floral wallpaper installed on every wall.
